Age limits, deadlines, and other non existent things in the US government.

Why is it, that as women, there are constantly deadlines on us? You better start your period before X age. You better have sex/not have sex before/after X age. You better have a husband by X age. You better have a baby before 35 because on your 35th birthday your eggs turn to dust and you are "geriatric" (that is the term. Or "Advanced maternal age"). You sure as fuck better not be over or under a certain size! You get judged if you have children and don't "snap back" by a certain time. You get judged if you don't have children at all, because you've clearly ignored all the deadlines. How dare you?

Society as a whole has this deadline anxiety. Go to college by X age. Have a career by X age. Have retirement set up in X amount by X age. Go on X vacations a year. Have X amount of sex. Own X amount of real estate. So I'm not really excluding men's anxiety here (because despite what you've heard, feminists don't all hate men).

And I can't speak to race, but we all know that if you are any shade of brown, your deadlines and restrictions are even louder.

But our government, which is supposedly OURS, has no limits, no deadlines, no boundaries really. They're just over there pretending to do shit, most of them, while collecting paychecks, benefits, and lobbyist money. With very few boundaries or limits -

  • Supreme court: life time appointment. No code of acceptable conduct. Yes you read that right.
  • President: can run until you literally expire in the oval office.
  • Congress: collect a paycheck until you are Mitch McConnell'd or Nancy Pelosi'd.
  • Voting: well sure, you can vote... but have you met "Gerrymandering"? Yeah he's really popular right now. So is "media spin". Both of those discourage and manipulate your voice.
Does the government really represent our desires at all?

  • 66% of Americans believe abortion should be 100% legal (though some of that 66% do favor some limits...I do not...and here's why.) I know late term abortions are confusing. There is no.such.thing. as a "partial birth abortion". That term is not medical in any way. It is a term drummed up by fear mongering "pro-life" people to horrify you. Trust me, women are not going through the hell of pregnancy to murder their baby at birth. Welp here we are and my body is forever altered but you know...I just changed my mind. I'm tired and I'd like to have some pizza without heartburn today. That is absurd! Women who have late term abortions are always in an excruciating situation of choosing life or death. and trust me, by that point, it was never an unwanted pregnancy. So leave those suffering women alone FFS! Yes, abortions should be legal, 100%. You can object to the hows and whys all you want but until you're in that situation, or know a 10 year old who was raped, kept it a secret, and now it's "too late", you'll never know what that experience is like. 100% legal. 100% safe. 100% done in proper settings. 100% done in a timely manner so as to preserve the health of the woman. 100% between a woman and her doctor! Why is the government in this? Do you want the government to determine if you get dick pills? Do you want the government to determine if you get hormone therapy in menopause? Do you want the government to determine if you can have your cooch waxed or your asshole bleached? Do you want the government to tell you that you can't masturbate or use sex toys?? Do you want the government to tell you you can't eat certain foods for your own "protection"? NO. So why are they in our uteruses? They aren't all up in the vas deferens of the other half of the country!!
  • 56-64% of Americans favor stricter gun laws. That doesn't mean they're coming for all your guns..that's fear rhetoric that Fox news has successfully implanted in your heads. But let's be real, there are certain guns that the average person doesn't need. Maybe a special permit should exist for those people, eh? We just want universal background checks! We just want to drop our kids off at school or the movies and not have them massacred!!! Over half of us think something needs to change. But it's not "take away all the guns". I don't want to hear your dumb arguments about "guns don't kill people..." blah blah blah. Yeah. They do. Guns kill more people than cars. People aren't driving cars on to school campuses to murder dozens of kids at a time. People aren't taking butterknives into crowds and killing a swath of people in one swing. People aren't murdering people with much of anything except guns and its a usually a specific class of guns. Get off that lame argument and stop clutching your rifles like grandma's pearls. Uncle Sam isn't coming for them. Trust...he's too busy policing our fucking vaginas to come take allllll your gunnnnnsssss. Stop it.
  • 3 out of 4 people believe climate change is really hurting us. That's 75% if you're trying to math it.
  • 73% of Americans believe religious stuff should not be mingled with government stuff. Why are we mandating Christian prayer in public schools in 2024? WTF? If Muslims were in charge and mandated Muslim prayer in schools, there would be so much pearl clutching we'd all choke! Jewish prayer? You know you'd all be just as outraged. Separation of Church and State is very clear in the Constitution. But here we are, just ignoring the rules and limits...
  • 79% of Americans do not want Social Security reduced in any way!
  • 51% of Americans feel more concerned than excited about AI.
  • Over half of us do not think a felon should be allowed to run for office or be President. (Shockingly "Republicans" were less in favor of this before his conviction than after...)

Not only were none of these things addressed sufficiently in the "debate", some weren't even mentioned!

Our government does NOT reflect our values as a collective. And yet we are so limited in how we are allowed to try to change that. We have a 2 party system. The candidates are really picked by the delegates, even though we have primaries. Yeah sure. Most of us do not feel very represented by the current government, the parties, or the representatives! Oh and deadlines...how many times has the GOVERNMENT SHUT DOWN because they can't reach a decision on budgets? We'd all be fired if we did that at normal jobs! But not the actual government that keeps our lives running... Deadlines? What are those?

Everything is limited except how fucking old you can be and have a public office. RBG, God bless her, should have stepped down during Obama's administration. The aforementioned congress people should have retired at least a decade ago! (maybe 2) Joe should never have run for another term. There should absolutely be age limits on the most powerful position in, some would argue, the world! Joe is the same age as my dad was when he died. My dad was an amazing, intelligent, strong man. Was he fit to run a country at 80? NOPE. And neither are the vast majority of 80 year olds!

Trump... shouldn't even be allowed to run. Hello, remember rule of law? The "republican" party is very into justice, for-profit prisons, and long sentences for pot smokers and petty thieves. But when it comes to their demigod, he's perfect and untouchable. Y'all, no matter how you spin it, he incited a revolt, an insurrection, and people got killed. The Capitol got wrecked. And this country has not recovered. Where is the law and order that they love so much? He shared state secrets with our enemies. He thinks Russia and North Korea are swell. He thinks the KKK are "good people". No. Just no.

Limits. Standards. Rules. Deadlines. We have to live by them, why don't they?

This Pluto return just looks like a bunch of old people clinging to power so far. 1 star, would not recommend.

Gotta run. If I don't take my 3 nutritional supplements by 3pm, I will age 3X faster than 34% of women my age.
